Boonshoft Museum of Discovery

The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery is a children's museum, that focuses on science and natural history. The museum offers both permanent as well as traveling exhibits. An extensive natural history collection, such as a mummy from Egypt, as well as a collection of live animals native to Ohio and abroad can be found here. Educational outreach extends to the community by providing in-school programming as well as on-site special programs. SunWatch Indian Village and Fort Ancient are the sister sites to the museum.

The museum is the only zoo, aquarium, planetarium or science center in Dayton, and also houses the Apollo Observatory, an astronomical observatory operated by the Miami Valley Astronomical Society.

Directly across from DeWeese Parkway, the Boonshoft is a great destination for a family bike ride. With something for children of all ages to enjoy, families typically spend anywhere from 1.5 hours to an entire day. Check the museum website for information to help you plan your visit.
